Magandang gabi from the Philippines! Let me give you a rundown of what's happened so far...First of all, Korean Air is officially my favorite airline. Everything went smoothly. From ensuring that Lola had a wheelchair whenever she needed it, to being polite when she demanded for a Diet Coke what seemed to be every hour...I award them five stars. Even the food was good.
Of the 20 hours we were travelling, I'm pretty sure I only slept a total of around four because I was trying to avoid killer jet lag (Manila is 14 hours ahead of Chicago). As soon as we got off the plane we were picked up by a guy at the airport who managed to carry all of our bags and push Lola's wheelchair at the same time. We didn't have any means to contact our family here to let them know we had arrived- of course Lola requested an arrival meal from them before asking for a phone number- so after what felt like a looong time of waiting, Uncle Ray pulled up. He and Reymiel (his son, my cousin) loaded our bags in the car and we took a short ride to Tita Minerva's house.
Once we arrived, there was food waiting for us. Had trouble thoroughly enjoying it though because I had almost reached the point when trying to stay awake hurts. I sat through (and participated a little) in our welcome feast and would have jumped for joy when they said they'd bring me to my apartment if I had any energy.
